Matariki Task Week 10

Matariki 2015
We are learning about Matariki

This is my Matariki Task, a lot of my culture has gone into this. I was really inspired in the sewing workshop. I know I will show this knowledge to other people. Hopefully you enjoy my videos.

Task One: Workshop Reflection
Choose your favourite workshop. Write a reflection about what you did in your workshop.
Success Criteria:
  • explains what the workshop was all about
  • shows why and how you enjoyed it (personal voice)
  • shares what you learnt
  • includes a photo of the activity (hopefully with you in it)
  • has that something extra special (e.g. instructions on how you could do the activity too)

This is my link to a video about my reflection. Matariki Stupeflix

Task Two: What is Matariki?
Create a presentation all about Matariki. You can do this with a buddy (learning one, not a friend buddy) or by yourself. It could be a slide, poster, diorama, video, animation, mindmap, ShowMe (or any other app)...
Explore my Pinterest Matariki board first and look through the links. Take notes in your Inquiry book.
Success Criteria:
  • in your own words
  • summarises main ideas about Matariki
  • clear and easy to understand
  • has the creative “x factor”

Math Art

WALT: We learned to reflect, translate and rotate

A reflection is like a mirror image.
Translation is picked up and moved to another spot without any change in size or orientation.
A rotation is something that turns around a center point.

In this task we had to use all three, It had to be relevant to this task

Can you spot my reflection translation and rotation?

WALT Area and Perimeter
I learnt Area and Perimeter
I am blogging this because I am really proud of it

What Counts:
  • Using our multiplication knowledge to work out area
  • Using our addition (and doubles) knowledge to work out perimeter

Add your picture of the rectangle you made. Show the formula for working out its perimeter and area.FullSizeRender.jpg
        Area:10x5=50m2
        Perimeter: 5+10+5+10=30m

Go to Maths Dictionary. Lookup area and perimeter. Do the activity. Take a screenshot of each. Add to this doc.save image

Make three rectangles using Google Drawing. Work out and show the perimeter and area of each rectangle. Make sure you include measurements (e.g. cm, cm squared). Challenge yourself with the numbers you choose.
